Who teaches it?   Mrs. Tina Holmsten

Mrs. Holmsten is a long-time TG parent (of three members) who has taught labs, writing classes, and Park Games I over several years.

About the course:   This course is intended to be a fun, active way to get to know some TG members, to enjoy the beauty of fall, to get some exercise, and to learn a new sport, perhaps!

Scheduled activities for each week:

Week 1 – Ultimate Frisbee for dummies (learning the skills and rules, doing practice drills)

Week 2 – Ultimate Frisbee for real (playing a real game)

Week 3 – Volleyball

Week 4 – Kickball

Background: Ultimate Frisbee is a sport Mrs. Holmsten loves and has played competitively, on and off, for the last 20 years. She loves to teach people how to play. Volleyball is a sport she also likes and has played non-competitively since grammar school. Kickball is a new interest.

How much does it cost?   FREE

What does it include?   Instruction and equipment.

What do I need to bring?   Each student should BRING:

Own water bottle, labeled.

Sunscreen (if needed)

A lot of enthusiasm and good sportsmanship

A desire to encourage one another

Close-toed shoes (NO flip-flops)

Dress Code Exceptions:   Wear Appropriate Clothing

When do I need to register?:

Other notes:

Tina would love another parent or older student to help with the planning and organizing—especially if you have ever helped coach or organize a sports team and/or if you know first aid.

She needs at least one adult to stay with her during the class, to help take attendance, get waiver forms signed, provide general encouragement and cheering, help with snack and dismissal, and assist with other situations that could arise (i.e. bee sting, injury, …)
