About the course:   TG Fall Semester 2010 Art classes

This fall 2010, due to the anticipated construction in Bushnell’s Basin, art classes will be held at Sue Jenkins’ home in Pittsford located @ 29 Oak Meadow Trail, Pittsford, NY 14534. Because of the change in venue this semester, there is unfortunately not a waiting area for students and/or parents in Sue’s home prior to or following classes. Please observe class times for drop off and pick-up of students. Also, being sensitive to parking around Sue’s home and neighborhood, ie: not parking in front of mailboxes, blocking driveways or deterring residential traffic, etc. will be greatly appreciated. If possible, carpooling with other students is encouraged to limit traffic.

The WED and FRI Art programs are identical. When you register, you must CHOOSE which day of the week you plan to attend.

The following curriculum will be explored:

1. Observational drawing and Exploration into Pen and Ink.

Students will create a still life composition drawn from observation and will create value, shading and detail enhancement with the pen and ink techniques of the Masters including pointillism, hatching, cross hatching and patterning. Students may also incorporate color washes into their black and white composition.

2. Patterned Portrait Compositions.

Inspired by the Portraiture of contemporary artist Judith Anderson, students will create a portrait that begins with reinforcement of portrait drawing techniques and proportions. A patterned fabric will then be chosen by the student that reinforces the personality of the subject matter. Students will then add detail and value to their portraits with paint, charcoal and pastels.
