Who teaches it? Mrs. Kathy Durgo
Mrs. Riley Hoselton is a TG parent dedicated to offering creative course opportunities for her sons and their peers — especially courses that provide teamwork activities and challenges, such as last year’s Odyssey of the Mind course. She has pulled together this course idea, and Mrs. Durgo, also a TG parent, has offered to do the instruction.
About the course: Seize the Moment—It’s an important election year!
Here’s a great way to engage in the political fever while getting grounded in U.S. history!
One of the main purposes of this course is for students to become more familiar with the central themes of the Constitutional Convention, seeing how the construction of the US Constitution evolved and relates to issues in the current administration and upcoming election.
The teens get to act out–with well-planned scripts–some of the hotly debated issues of the Constitutional Convention and then test their memory of the material with short quizzes each day. This is a fun way to cover foundational history material. Acting is optional but encouraged!
There will be seven regular classes followed by a guest speaker event and then an Election Day evening party on the last week!
Mr. Bill Chellis, pastor and attorney with many years of experience in Conservative Party politics and experience teaching at the TG, will be the featured guest speaker on October 26.
How much does it cost? $40
What does it include? Instruction (lecture material from Generation Joshua program), handouts and scripts, honorarium for guest speaker.
What do I need to bring? Students will need a 1 – 1/2 inch three-binder for their handouts.
Each student will be asked to donate some refreshments to the end-of-course Election Day evening party.
Dress Code Exceptions: None
When do I need to register?:
Other notes:
Mrs. Durgo will need a few parents to assist her with the Election Party. Please note on your comment form if you can help!
