PLEASE READ the detailed course/rehearsal schedule below. BE SURE there are no conflicts with the rehearsal or performance schedule.
ONCE you have been cast for a part in the play, MARK your calendar with all the rehearsal dates and performance date.
Traditionally, the drama parents plan a CAST & CREW party to follow several days after the performance. Tentatively, reserve Monday, April 5th, 12:30-2:00 for the party.
Who teaches it? Mrs. Amanda Ladwig
Mrs. Ladwig is a professional actress, having performed for Disney and for a NY City theatre company. She is also a dedicated Christian and very selective in her acting career, now focused primarily on children’s theatre and directing teen plays. She and her husband recently started the Next Generation Theatre Company for teens. Mrs. Ladwig has instructed Drama classes and directed plays for The Training Ground for the past four years.
About the course: This year, The Training Ground is pleased to present a wonderful collection of scenes from some of theatre’s most famous productions. Scenes and monologues will be performed from Shakespeare through to contemporary plays and musicals, both comedy and drama. We will incorporate everything from sword fights to dancing. We will cast according to skill and strengths. In other words, not everyone will need to dance and/or sing.
Through this course, students will learn everything, from the very basics of stage direction through character development and performance. Each student will be challenged and encouraged to stretch as performers.
The performance will take place at Upstage 3 at the Auditorium Theatre on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Students interested in auditioning must have taken a drama class with Mrs. Ladwig. Each student must prepare a two-minute monologue for the audition scheduled on December 7, 2009. Those who can sing and dance are NOT required to sing at the audition; they will be evaluated at a later time.
The rehearsal schedule is posted below.
Auditions will be held at The Training Ground on Monday, December 7, 2009. Auditions will begin promptly at 2:30PM and will end at 4:00PM. Students signed up will be assigned an audition appointment time slot. When they are finished with their audition, they are free to leave. Those signed up will receive an audition sheet that must be filled out and handed in at the audition.
All students must prepare a two-minute monologue for auditions. It may be dramatic or comedic. Please email me directly aladwig@frontiernet.net with any questions or to sign up for auditions. Deadline for auditions sign up is December 5, 2009.
In addition, we will need stage crew. If you are interested in being part of the production working backstage or running lights or sound, please email me directly to sign up. You do not need to audition if you wish to be on stage crew, and you do not need to officially register or pay any fee for the Drama course if you are on crew.
Rehearsal schedule will be as follows. Please take note of all mandatory rehearsals. Cast members are not permitted to miss mandatory rehearsals, with the exception of a death in the family or severe illness. Students may not be needed at all of the rehearsals in the very beginning while we block the show. Cast members will have a detailed rehearsal schedule ahead of time to plan accordingly.

I am looking forward to another wonderfully dramatic year at The Training Ground!!
Amanda Ladwig
How much does it cost? $95
What does it include? All instruction and production expenses.
What do I need to bring? Prompt attendance at all mandatory rehearsals and nearly all or all other rehearsals. IF you MUST miss a regular, non-mandatory rehearsal due to a serious illness or previously scheduled–before auditions– travel, you must get permission (an excused absence) from Mrs. Ladwig.
Cast members count on one another! An unexcused absence, missing a mandatory rehearsal, not learning your lines by the time you should be off book, or inappropriate behavior will likely result in the student being removed from the cast.
Traditionally, the drama parents plan a CAST & CREW party to follow several days after the performance. Tentatively, reserve Monday, April 5th, 12:30-2:00 for the party.
