Who teaches it? Mrs. Susan Jenkins
Mrs. Jenkins has an Art degree from Nazareth College and has been teaching Art classes in her home, at homeschool co-ops, and at The Training Ground for over 6 years. Her classes are so popular that we have to offer two sessions of her regular Art program, and for the second year now she is offering another option for Advanced students.
About the course: The seven week program will be divided between two separate art projects. For each project, Mrs. Jenkins provides an introductory lesson with examples from art history.
The curriculum is identical for both Wednesday and Friday Art classes, so please only register for one or the other.
1. Reality drawing: Drawing with Linear and Atmospheric Perspective.
Students will observe the artwork of master artists Meindert Hobbema, Ford Smith and others to reinforce (or learn) 1, 2, and 3 – point perspective techniques. We will create a “layered” and detailed pencil drawing which considers depth, (foreground, middle ground and background) color theory, shading and detail enhancement. Pencil, colored pencil and color washes will be used.
2. Mixed Media, 3-dimensional canvas paintings incorporating image transfers, texture building and acrylic painting. Students will observe the Mixed media designs of artists Bobbi Studstill, and Susan Buckner for inspiration and will create a unique design on canvas.
