Girls JH Book Club – 2009/10

Who is eligible?   Girls in grades 7-8 and 6th graders who are mature readers. Priority to girls who are continuing the book club from last year. (There are likely just a couple spots open to newer members.)

When is it?   Monthly on Fridays, 3:15-4:30 PM as follows:

Who teaches it?   Mrs. Linda Taggart

Linda Taggart was a Jr. High school English teacher and librarian before becoming a wife and mother. She is an active homeschooler and TG parent. Her hobbies include reading, playing the hammered dulcimer, and thinking outside the box!

About the course:   7th and 8th grade Girls’ Book Club

Read, discuss, play games, snack, solve puzzles, create, learn, and more! Join us for a monthly book club meeting that will challenge you to think about what you read! We’ll have fun talking about our monthly selection and also weave in some literary learning about topics such as point of view, allusion, types of conflict, irony, foreshadowing, and more. All books available at Monroe County Public Libraries, or to purchase at reasonable cost through Amazon.com.

Full year course to meet monthly on Friday afternoons, 3:15-4:30 PM.

How much does it cost?   $20 for the entire year

What does it include?   Instruction and all materials used in class.

(NOTE: The monthly book selection is NOT included in your fee.)

What do I need to bring?   Students must borrow or purchase a copy of each month’s book selection to complete the readings; library editions are fine!
